The story of The Game Day Foundation began long before 2012. Our founder Mike Finlen’s sister, Ann, was a huge college football fan. She loved the Auburn Tigers. Ann was born with Downs Syndrome and nothing gave her more joy than game day at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium. Her family made sure she had many game day experiences over the years.

Mike saw the joy that these experiences could bring to Ann and her special needs friends and wanted to bring it to others who might not otherwise get to attend an exciting day at a college football game.

He knew that enjoying tailgating, and cheering on your favorite team with your family is a great way to look past your problems and limitations.

Mike and his wife Lori created The Game Day Foundation in 2012 as an all-volunteer organization to provide all-expense-paid trips to college football games for children and adults with medical or special needs.

Even after Ann passed away in 2023, her passion has lived on through Mike and Lori Finlen’s desire to give similar experiences to others.

Over the years. The Game Day Foundation has created hundreds of special days for special people and each year we add more colleges and more recipients.

Unlike other charitable ventures The Game Day Foundation has no administrative costs. 100% of donations go to the recipients.
